Since ignitions began last week on the Elkhorn portion of the Elkhorn-Pingree Hill Prescribed Burn in the Poudre Canyon, 450 acres have burned. The Elkhorn portion of the Elkhorn-Pingree Hill Prescribed Burn did well over the night. Firefighters will continue to work the burn today as conditions look favorable. Expect to see more smoke in the Poudre Canyon throughout the day. Attached photos are from yesterday and last night.

Elkhorn-Pingree Hill Prescribed Burn 3/6/20 Update from Reghan Cloudman

Firefighters have had another successful test fire today in the Poudre Canyon this afternoon and are continuing with operation on the Elkhorn portion of the Elkhorn-Pingree Hill Prescribed Burn. Expect to see smoke in the area throughout the day and evening. Firefighters plan to continue tomorrow if conditions allow. Attached photo is of burning yesterday.

Canyon Lakes Ranger District Pile Burning Update 2/12/20

Firefighters have burned more than 22,600 slash piles on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District this winter, including over 1,100 just yesterday in the Magic Sky 3 and Thompson River 4 (photo attached) project areas.  Burning is expected to continue throughout the coming week as conditions allow.
